Title card. WERIGO SAGA CHAPTER 23: The Unfinished Map

PANEL 1. The next morning. Werigo’s office. The map Ratih found behind the mirror is open on the table.

  • ARYA: Dy… the map is drawing another road.

PANEL 2.

  • ODY: I see it. Keep your hands clear.

PANEL 3.

  • IBU RAEH: Find out where it leads. I’ll keep the branch running.

PANEL 4.

  • ODY: Ratih knows the warung on this map. Its owner is still in Munduk.

PANEL 5. EdPower and Athena. The bikes go north with the operations vehicle; the local survey starts in Munduk.

PANEL 6.

  • ODY · NARRATION: A real route first. A travel offer later.

PANEL 7. Munduk, the following morning. Cool air, coffee and clove gardens.

PANEL 8.

  • KOMANG: I drove the support van. I’m claiming the first coffee.

PANEL 9.

  • IBU WENING: Ratih called. I’m Wening. Come in before the mist drinks your coffee.

PANEL 10.

  • ODY: We brought her map. And a friend who takes coffee very seriously.

PANEL 11. A small veranda. Warm cups. A valley that needs no filter.

PANEL 12.

  • KOMANG: This one tastes like peace. Mine usually tastes like overdue bills.

PANEL 13.

  • IBU WENING: My father drew this. That bridge has been gone for years.

PANEL 14.

  • ARYA: Then why is the line still moving?

PANEL 15.

  • IBU WENING: He wanted one perfect route. He kept redrawing it after the bridge fell.

PANEL 16.

  • IBU WENING: We’ll look from the garden path. The bikes stay here.

PANEL 17. The bikes are parked at the warung. Komang stays with the vehicle. Wening leads the walk.

PANEL 18.

  • ODY: The map stays folded until we stop.

PANEL 19. Twenty minutes up the garden path. The old bridge lies beyond the safe stone landing.

PANEL 20.

  • IBU WENING: Stop here. No one crosses.

PANEL 21.

PANEL 22.

  • ARYA: Dy. Behind us.

PANEL 23. The path back folds upward like a sheet of paper.

PANEL 24. Ody sets the open map on a stone block beside them.

  • ODY: Nobody moves alone. Stay on the stone.

PANEL 25.

PANEL 26.

  • IBU WENING: That is not my father.

PANEL 27.

  • THE MAP: NO MORE WRONG TURNS.

PANEL 28.

  • ARYA: It’s drawing the garden out of existence.

PANEL 29. Rain hits the stone. One golden line dissolves where it touches a puddle.

PANEL 30.

  • ARYA: The ink. Water takes it off.

PANEL 31.

  • ODY: Try a corner. Just a corner.

PANEL 32. A handspan-sized slit opens in the wall, then starts drawing itself shut. A wet corner is not enough.

PANEL 33.

  • IBU WENING: The garden channel. There’s running water under that stone lip.

PANEL 34.

  • ODY: Arya takes the map to the water. I’ll keep its attention here.

PANEL 35.

PANEL 36.

  • ODY: DOWN!

PANEL 37.

PANEL 38.

  • IBU WENING: It won’t let the map reach the water.

PANEL 39.

  • THE MAP: EVERYONE ARRIVES. NOTHING IS LEFT BEHIND.

PANEL 40.

  • ODY: You’re erasing the places people came for!

PANEL 41.

  • IBU WENING: He drew this so people could find us.

PANEL 42.

  • IBU WENING: Not so the road could keep them. Wash it off.

PANEL 43.

  • ODY: Now, Arya!

PANEL 44. The map leaves the stone block in Arya’s hands. Ody stays between the paper and the channel.

PANEL 45.

PANEL 46.

  • ARYA: Almost there!

PANEL 47.

PANEL 48.

  • ODY: Arya—NOW!

PANEL 49.

PANEL 50. The whole map goes into the running water. The golden route breaks.

PANEL 51.

PANEL 52. Trees regain their depth. The stone path leads back to the warung.

PANEL 53.

  • ODY: Everyone still here?

PANEL 54.

  • ARYA: Next time we take the road that stays on the ground.

PANEL 55.

  • KOMANG: I heard thunder. Then half the valley turned into stationery.

PANEL 56.

  • ODY: And you still brought coffee?
  • KOMANG: Panic is worse on an empty stomach.

PANEL 57. Back at the warung, the map dries under a cloth. Its drawing is gone.

PANEL 58.

  • IBU WENING: The paper can go blank. The place is still here.

PANEL 59.

  • IBU WENING: If you bring guests, let them meet the growers. We’re more than a photo stop.

PANEL 60.

  • ODY: Coffee, a guided garden walk, time to sit. Start with two guests.

PANEL 61. Munduk is real. Its coffee and clove landscapes are part of northern Bali. Wening’s warung and the magical path are fictional.

PANEL 62.

  • ODY · NARRATION: For a lake or forest walk around Tamblingan, go with a local guide. The footpaths are for walking.

PANEL 63.

  • ODY · PHONE: Two guests first. Count the guide, coffee and transport costs before calling it profit.

PANEL 64.

  • IBU RAEH · PHONE: Ira can offer the trial after you finish testing the route. No rush to promise a package.

PANEL 65.

  • PAK IRA: I’ll talk to two guests who actually want a slow day. No mass promo yet.

PANEL 66.

  • IBU RAEH: Good. Let’s learn from the first trip before we add another.

PANEL 67.

  • IBU WENING: My father, with the woman who used to help him keep the paths. Do you know her?

PANEL 68. A photograph dated 1963. Long before Werigo.

  • ARYA: Dy… the woman beside her father. That’s my grandmother.

Next chapter. Those Who Kept the Roads

WERIGO SAGA is fiction. Its System, magical reflections and Bale Sore guesthouse are invented. The bikes, charging equipment and rental service are real. Always wear a helmet, ride within your licence and never ride through floodwater.
